Doubtful.

  • 01.28.2007 11:45 AM PDT

I think by the time WIndows Vista is out, the RCs will die, any ways, I don't think it will work well, Bungie might have Windows Vista. Maybe they're testing H2V on it to, just to check to see if it still works on it.

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

Stealth, I hate to tell you, but Vista comes out officially in 2 days.

I have my copy, as many others do also, already due to it being an OEM copy.

However, by the time H2V is out, the RCs will probably have died, and it probably wouldn't work on them anyways.

I just hope and pray that there is a hack for Halo 2 Vista. I can get Vista easily.

But if I need to go through 50 security pop ups to get the thing installed, forget it.

I'm counting on there being a hack within a week of H2V release.

Um, and I hate to tell you this, but I know, Just In! Walmart: Vista...
See, you're abit late on telling me that. and I still stick to the fact that the RCs will died before Vista is Released, I and I don't mean that they'll stop working, I mean, people may just go to Walmart, or some where and buy Vista.

Sorry, I thought you meant that the timebomb on the RCs would go off before Vista was out.

Oh, btw, I don't read h2vista.net.

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time. I know who you are. You are destiny.

You, kid. Yes, you. Don't play with fire. Even less with Microsoft. Don't forget to put up your Firewall.

Ok, and You should look around over there, there is alot of things that you may never see here.

Get Marathon 2 and Infinity Here

Completely off topic, but Stealth, when did Bungie, or more appropriately, Hired Gun, ever say they would include single player editing?

From what little I have read, single player editing in Halo PC was not part of the origional HEK either...I could be wrong but I don't believe I am in this case. If I recall, somone managed to hack it to allow the alteration of single player missions...never paid attention to it.

No, it was just never documented. They hacked it so they could understand how to write the scripts, not so they could compile them.

Hmm. Do you even know how old I am?

Wow, I doubt you have used Vista. Its a piece of junk. You get a a security popup for trying to do ANYTHING. I tried to download something, and there was the security.

Sure there are ways around it, but I'm telling you, nobody on this forum will have patience to deal with the new OS. I really don't give a damn if Microsoft hears me rant about this because they should know that their awesome new operating system is going down the toilette because they want to please the safety freak parent.

I'm sorry. I'm ranting. But the fact is, if Microsoft doesn't want criticism their company will go down the toilette FAST.

By the way, I hate Windows Firewall.

But now let me ask you :). What are the pros of the Vista operating system besides the Aero interface that needs 1 GB of RAM and a GPU to run?

Please, tell me what makes it so special.

Did you bother to even look in the control panel to turn off the user account control feature for the popups?

Or did you just write off Vista immediately and decide to pirate it?

You should not have to disable anything. I know that you would be able to do that. But you see, if nobody likes it what is the point? I don't think a lot of people want Windows questioning them at every turn.

I did turn it off, but the real reason that I trashed Vista is because 3DS Max doesn't work on it (I understand it is pre-release). And likely when Vista is released it will have just as many bugs.

But no, seriously, you haven't answered my question. Why do you like Vista? I feel as if the engineers of Vista went "Wow, look at all of this RAM let's find out how to make some eye candy and build an OS around it."

Build the OS then make the eye candy. Other than the eye candy I can't see anything innovative. At least with Windows there was multi-threading.

We aren't here to convince you to get vista. If you want to see the upsides, and there are many, go search for yourself.

The reason I'm asking for this is because you guys seem to either want to defend Vista (which is why I'm asking why you think it is great) or want to protect me from getting flamed by Microsoft (I can take care of myself). I'm already convinced that Vista is bad. I'm asking why you think it is good. I know the good sides. I don't see how they out weight the bad.

The first person that told me not to rant at Microsoft was probably thinking I have no idea who I'm insulting or what the hell I'm talking about.

I know both. I know Microsoft's history and I know what Vista is.

So you're asking us to tell you why Vista's amazing...so you can flame us to pieces for it? You're obviously convinced that your assumptions are undeniable proof, so why, honestly, would any of us waste our time in telling you how great Windows is?

I think your question's already been answered...it's doubtful, since RCs will die shortly after the release of the actual OS, but aside from that there should be no problem with it running on Vista.

Yes, I hate Vista too (Ive been using it for a while so I can say that, the business version, not the RC).

But just because you think its crap, thats no reason to use piracy.

Its fools like you that make them put really restrictive things in it, to stop piracy. DRM for a start.

Theres many people who like vista as well.

Here you will need this to help you get your foot out of the back of your throat, looks llike its in there pretty deep. And what is that on your face? Egg?! *hands Kim a washcloth*

DRM has never stopped piracy though.

lol! I never said I was going to pirate anything. I said I wanted to get a hack for Halo 2 Vista so I wouldn't need Vista because it is a) too expensive and b) of the above stated reasons.

DRM does nothing, btw. Piracy really can't be stopped unless we want to go to war with Russia who has a lot of warez servers.

Gumball - You are right. I am just ranting. I'll shut up and let this thread continue without my presence.

Heyyo,

You do know thats not going to be possible right?

Now now Chewy, threads are how we the poster's make them. If we just ignore the crap and get back ontopic all will be well.

As for Halo2Vista working on Vista RC's? I myself do doupt that as Live Anywhere is not seen... well... anywhere on the RC's and are probably only part of the RTM builds. Most likely now that Vista is out, the RC's will no longer receive windows updates since they are not the full product and not supported anymore. If they do actually receive updates, I'm sadly going to be pessimistic still and say Live Anywhere probably still won't see the light of day on RC's/beta's. But then again, I'm not Microsoft, and these are just my opinons. The only way to really tell, is once H2V is released, and see if it runs... unless Bungie actually does a news update on it... which ain't really likely.

But on the other hand... Bungie were using the beta's/rc's before whilst building H2V as I remember one Bungie news update were they mentioned they switched all their computers over from WinXP to WinV (date? unsure.. but it was the alpha/beta period I believe), so there is a chance it'll work for singleplayer, just not sure how Live Anywhere would work....
