Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

I had the idea of having a forum dedicated just towards fanfics. User-written stories don't truly fit in anywhere but the flood, and I think, with the growing number of members contributing their own stories, having a serius board just for their purpose will help things.

Not only will it free up space on other forums, but it'd create a universal destination for anyone to contribute their own work.

It'd allow for more comments and inspiration among the community, as all posted material there would be easy accessable to all. Such a forum doesn't have as much potential for spam and flaming as others, and would be a first step towards a more productive B.net.

Such a forum could be titled:
Fan-Fiction: Submit your story to the Community

Additional characteristics could be weekly/monthly contests for the best story voted on by the community, a place where members just starting on their own story can get ideas and advice, as well as a place for vetaran writers to receive comments and ratings.

Do you also feel that this is a good idea?

It's been discussed before. I think just a general "fan created" forum would be good, where you can get feedback on art and such, as well as fan-fics.

I dunno. Why not just use halo.bungie.org? They're all about the fanfiction.

They've even got a forum dedicated to it.

I don't understand why people think Bungie.net should have a fanfiction forum. If you want one, I'd suggest creating a group.

A moderator outsourcing the forum he works for? For shame!

Couldn't that same logic be used for The Flood?

Bungie listens to its fans! ^.^ | Ninja .II./ You
RCG: In ur base, steelin' ur flagz. | Watch the demo, then join the carnage!

There is a fanfic group, so their fanfic forum is the Bungie one, basically. =)

Even though it's not "official".

2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Groups could be made for such purposes, I think.

It's not a matter of allocating resources to support a forum for those who want to publish their materials, it's about keeping many of the other forums cleaner. I find Fan-fic threads in half of the existing boards right now.

It serves the same purpose of the flood, but for a much less lucrative result.

I doubt it'd see a whole lot of activity except from a few members. I personally don't like fanfiction though, so what does my opinion matter? ;D

News? Podcasts? Machinima? Active forums? Competitions? Jaffa Cakes!? OMG!
Thee Warriors!

Best. Mod. Ever.

If it were implimented, I'd like to see that the Halo novels could be disucssed there too. It fits and gives The Watchers and similar groups a place in the public forums to feed off.

Don't think for a minute that they will get rid of our home.

If the Flood goes, Bungie will not hear the end of it.

You know, right before I saw this I said to myself 'Shishka's gonna be against this, and use the reason he used last time'. Lo and behold he did. I am so Psychic.

Also, If you look at the near stagnant nature of the OFG, you would see that an entire public forums would probably not be very active.

  • 01.30.2007 3:12 PM PDT

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

You should probaly start a Strictly Fanfic group where you can publish your work and invite others that enjoy fanfic also. There are many other fanfic groups out there just waiting for some fanfic-guy to join!

If the Flood is deleted or downsized more than it is now, I will personally lead whatever party is necessary in order to get it back.

This has been discussed Prometheus, use the new "Seach Button". The real place for fanfiction is Fanfiction.net. Thats were all the really good ones are.

The Flood plays too big of a roll at B.net. If people are signing on just to visit that forum, it downgrades the entire site. I've seen such things happen elsewhere...

If bungie downsized the flood, it would contaminate other forums and obliterate the rest of bungie.net like, well, The Flood. Muahaha. You saw what happened with kitchen number 8 (and why hasn't someone submitted that to the b.net news yet?).

Hm. Well, if they could spare the resources, it's something I'd like to see. It would be a lot easier than simply stumbling across things by accident.

Forum for fan fics: not really necessary.
Forum for Halo General: really really necessary.

Oh, Reanimation, try making your sig a link. Most people would not have any idea what that is about.
