I was just curious as to what you guys out there have that runs Halo:CE as smoothly, if not smoother than the Xbox, in your PC.

The reason why I'm asking is because when I play, the environment is perfect, sniper zoom is perfect... but moving vehicles and people are a bit choppy. It's like only the moving objects have low frame rate. Fraps is telling me I'm getting 75fps with vsync on, and it's like that all the time. No matter what.

Here's what it's running on:
AMD Athlon X2 3800+
1GB PC3200 Ram
250GB 7200rpm SATA Hard Drive
BFG 7950GT OC GPU

So why isn't it perfect? Please help!!! Thanks

Just about anything made in the last 4 years can run Halo PC smoother than an Xbox...

Specular is on? I play with max settings sans specular, and that's the only thing that visibly affects gameplay on my laptop.

ATI Radeon Xpress 200M Integrated @ 400MHz

Yeah, I'm running max settings... I'm downloading a patch update for the game now though, so that's what it might be.

I can run it just fine at 1280x1024 maxed and normally get 200+ frames per second smooth.

Just to make static mad, here is my awe-inspiring rig...

Athlon XP 1800+ overclocked to 2 gigahertz
1 GB DDR RAM
Radeon 9250 overclocked for slightly better speed
Envy 24 Sound Card (awesome sound quality, and only 25 bucks)

0_o good game. Highest res I can get to is 1280x1024. I play 800x600 with No Vsync. Vsync on does nothing but lag your hardware. Set it to No Vsync.

I'm there but, man this is really starting to sound like communism.
Long live the MAW.

30 fps, all settings on low/off. Hells yea.

1.7 GHZ processer
364 RAM (or something close to that)
5200 Ge-Force Nvidia
Windows XP Professional.

For some reason, my Intel Integrated can run Halo at 1024x768 no lag. (It's 865 no shaders)

Most of the PC issues posted here are the result of PEBKAC.

Whatever I feel like. 1280x960 at 60fps sounds comfortable though.

I do not care what parts you have since game play>> graphics, but the crap you reccommend makes no sense such as getting a PCI-e/PCI mobo then running an old outdated AGP card on it somehow.

I play with VSync off, everything maxed at 1440x900 and average 150+ FPS.

Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 @2.00 GHz
2GB RAM
NVidia GeForce Go 7900 GS

I think the choppyness of vehicles and people has to do with server tick rates, and not with your own hardware.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Seems to me even though you can increase the framerate, characters and vehicles are still animated at 30 frames per second.

atvdude. Have you tried turning off one of your processors while running the game?

I play it at 800x600 with 1GB of RAM with AMD XP 3200+, but my video card is what brings the power down... nVidia GeForce 5500 AGP.
20 fps if I'm lucky, 30-40 on 640x480.

Donations ftw?

Have you ever thought about your connection lagging?

Oops!

When my connections start to lag, then the hogs get choppy.

BTW, my specs are:

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ OC at 225mhz instead of 200mhz - standard fan
512MB of DDR400 RAM
EVGA nVidia 7900 GS KO OC video card (BEAST! Bottlenecked by CPU though)
80 GB 7200 RPM HDD
52x/24x/52x CDROM Drive
2 button ball mouse
Standard Compaq keyboard
2 speaker system
(Crappy perhipials ftw!)
