I think its a way cool Idea, but I dont really get why you have to buy crackdown. I downloaded the demo and Its a awesome game. So why does Freakin Microsoft have to put the demo on the game? I think it is a cheap way to earn some more money, and I know it is going to work because they're is no chance in this good world that any respectful, faithful fan will get in the group of free beta. You have to be so lucky its sickening. It also makes me angry why they just don't put it on the marketplace. It shows how much faith microsoft has in Crackdown.
Thank You to whoever reads this SPREAD THE MESSAGE.

CRAP! I DON'T HAVE A 360! (suicide)
Anyways, the Beta sounds awsome. I have a feeling I might be over at my friend's house a lot in the coming month. Oh, well. I still have 80 Halo 2 maps to play from.

OK, yes, it is very true that I'm a dumb ass. I'm not denying that. However, isn't the whole point of a beta to increase the amount of users until you get someone dumb enough to try something you haven't anticipated.
Johnrap - Unofficial Dumbass of Halo 3 Beta

Well I'm probably a moron for having done so but since I'm an insomniac I decided to take no chances and I played Halo 2 online from 12EST to 3:30EST. Now that I've looked through this thread I realize that I probably could have taken my time.

Does anyone have any idea how many people will be jamming the F5 button on their keyboards on Sunday night? Are we talking 10-20 thousand, 50-100 thousand, or more!? I'd like to think that since I've pretty much ruined my day tomorrow in the name of MC, I stand a fair chance of becoming one of the lucky 13,333. (Why 13,333?)

Also, I downloaded and tried out the Crackdown demo from the XBL marketplace. Let's just say that I can understand why M$ feels the need to offer consumers a greater incentive to buy the game... Sorry to those who tried it and thought it was great.

What does F5 do? Why again do you think you'll get in?

ITS BULL-BLAM-!! I registered on Halo3.com several weeks ago and it said my registration was confirmed, I never recieved an email in Jan 22-26 stating that. Its just a marketing scheme to get people to buy Crackdown: a wanna-be version of True Crime.

Rockets zipping past my ears, bullets ricocheting off my sheild, and somebody is trying to give me a headache.

But how do they check if you're 17 or older? Do they check your XBL subscribtion info, your windows live ID info, do you tell them there? And if it starts at midnight then I wont have to skip school tomarro? And when exactly does the window end? Are they testing our worthyness be seeing if we are big enough halo fans to stay up until midnight to play the 3 hours and to register? What about those with brocken allarm clocks? The majority of my inquiries remain unanswered!

Ok, they check your age by probably a number of ways, and yes they can verify your age. They check it via your membership of Xbox Live, they probably also check your Windows Live ID, and more then likely you will have to post your age on the registration. The window ends on February 3rd at 11:59pm. They probably aren't testing anything. It's a race to see who is part of the first 13,333. You can play 3 hours on Feb 3rd if you like, the two things that matter are, 1) you play 3 hours of Halo 2 between Feb 1 through Feb 3 on your Xbox 360 with a Gold Membership (not hard to understand), and 2) on Feb 5 you can start registering for the Beta. If you are part of the first 13,333 to sign up AND are 17 or older, you probably got into the Beta. I say probably because even if you are part of the first 13,333 you may not be garunteed a spot. Microsoft(Bungie) will email you if you got in. If this doesn't answer your questions, then slow down and read the directions again.

You won't receive an email stating that your registration was confirmed. An email would've been sent to you between Jan 22-26 if you were selected for the first round of Beta registration. If you didn't get it, you weren't selected. It's not a hoax. Bungie is loyal to their fans. Why would they lie?

People, look at the rules. If it says 17 or older, they mean 17 or older. If you're 16, we're all sorry, but they want people that will take this serious and have nightly chances to play the Beta and will be willing to give serious feedback about the game.

So...is a moderator gonna answer any of the questions asked here or not? The info given for the "Rule of 3" is rather vague.

  • 02.01.2007 5:23 PM PDT

Actually, yes the 17 part has a lot to do with it. Everybody had a chance during the first registration, now the adults get theirs, then when Crackdown comes out, everybody will get their chance again seeing that parents don't respect the ESRB, and the kids don't care.
