Subject: Minimum Character Requirement

I think that there should be a feature here on Bungie.net which dictates the minimum number of characters a post must consist of. For example, HIH has a minimum requirement of 10 characters. This would reduce short, spammy, smartass comments/replies such as, "No.".

Although there are simple ways around having to generate a reply with more than 10 characters (other than forum-goers actually having a little think about composing something remotely constructive before they decide to try and bring someone down), it could be something that's enforced by the Moderators. So, if an individual were to reply with, "No. (10 char lol)", then he/she could be informed that exploiting the MCR is not wise.

Meh, just a thought.

Yay or nay?

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

Yay! That is a great thought. It would be great to see that be carried out on Bungie.net.

Bungie listens to its fans! ^.^ | Ninja .II./ You
RCG: In ur base, steelin' ur flagz. | Watch the demo, then join the carnage!

I really don't think that's necessary; once someone's typed a reply of "No." they aren't going to think of anything to extend it. They'll just type full stops or something.

And first person to reply to this thread with "No." wins the Originality Cup.

Edit: Looks like dalmedya wins. Bend over and think happy thoughts: You don't get to take the Cup, it gets... given to you.

Dalmedya wins.

I disagree with your idea, I enjoy the simple, smart alec responses.

People would just type in useless crap to make it meet the requirement. And sometimes "No." is all that needs to be said.

  • 02.01.2007 4:04 PM PDT

2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

No..

"Whatever exists, whatever in creation exists without my knowledge exists without my consent. These anonymous creatures may seem little or nothing in the world. Yet the smallest crumb can devour us. Any smallest thing beneath yon rock out of men's knowing. Only nature can enslave man and only when the existence of each last entity is routed out and made to stand naked before him will he be properly suzerain of the earth."

So the idea to foil the people who make useless posts is to force them to waste more space.

Due to the inefficiency of the amount of work that might go into this for the payoff (that is, little for nothing), I must vote against such a proposition.

I don't think its a bad idea. It just needs some polishing, a few minor adjustments here and there, and it can be put on the Soon shelf.

This thread is a perfect example of when "no" is all that's needed to be said.

No, that would be a perfect example of a thread that shouldn't be posted in.

Some times less is more.

But for the most part, I agree, it would get rid of a lot of "NO!!" posts in the H3 forum and New Mombasa. That is... until they figure out to use more exlamation marks...

In my opinion this is not the most flawless idea but it's definately not the worst either.

Get Marathon Here
Get Marathon 2 and Infinity Here

How about a combination:

Min char limit of 10, and a maximum repeat char limit of 2, with spaces not counting as a char when placed between identical characters.

Such as "n n n" would count under this rule as "nnn", and therefore could not be posted.

Though I would say the min char limit should be higher.

The advantage to this is that it would then be much easier to spot, as they would have to type a lot of nonsense in order to post a lazy answer of "no" or "lawl" etc. thus defeating their purpose of posting lazily in the first place, and so they will either not post, or will face Ninja Wrath™ far more swiftly.

Of course that would be hard to code, but it's a nice idea.

This is Bungie.net not HIH or HBO. Bungie.net is different from them for a reason. So it makes it better. Doing that would make Bnet worse. Do you really wanna make Bnet worse?

Yes, but you took the time to bother doing it, my point is that most single worder posters don't want to take the time to do that.

I vote that we should -blam!- the word no.

I say -blam!- anything that begins and ends with '*'s, for example, *runs around with his pants off* or *kicks <insert name>*.
