If you wanna see an airplane cemetery, why don't you just find an old airplane and look at where it goes?

If it's a simple yes or no poll, then it usually doesn't matter, but when it's one of those threads in which the question is like, "What's the coolest weapon in Halo 2?" and it gives you a limited list, then it probably matters.

What do you think? I'm totally serious.

Impy, have you been drinking again?

On a serious not, no, I do not believe that the order of options in a poll will give one some influence as to which they will choose. I believe that one will select which best fits their thinking and/or personality.

With some people it influences their choices, yes. The last option on the poll is usually the one which sticks with them the most because it is freshest in their minds, and the first is usually the one they associate with the "right" answer because most people put the primary or preffered answer first. And then some people only read the possible choices up until one they think is funny or they mildly agree with, skipping other choices which may possibly be better suited to them.

Have either of you ever taken it into consideration?

Yes, but I usually don't think about it when I make my own polls because I usually have simple yes or no polls or the questions for the polls aren't subjective.

I've often thought about this, and I'm sure it does.

And by the way, your lite-brite thread is on page 2, impy.

The only reason why I put yes above no in my polls is because that's basically the standard and least confusing way of writing a poll, but not the standard way of voting in a poll.

Teh soz.

Also, I think the "view options" would be more of vote distractor than the order. If you're not sure which to vote for, or want to vote for the "coolest" option, simply hit 'view options' and cast your "vote"!

I can't account for a user's train of thought when making a decision, which is why I don't bother thinking about the placement of my poll answers. If it would be biased either way, then it doesn't matter.

I know a handful of people that would go right for the eight option of a certain poll...

I'm certifiable.

Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos. Er, plus sign. However, I did so on the understanding that "plus" meant "positive" (agreement) and minus meant "negative" (disagreement).

Why don't you just give me ONE SECOND!

Well... if it is a total pointless poll, with answers such as
"Chuck Norris"
"I like pie"
"Tastes like chicken"
"Your mom"
"WTF NO WAI"
"OMG"
"no u"
and various other pointless things, then yes... the option is quite obvious, "no u" is the ultimate answer. Am I like... on topic...? Oh, and impy, drinking is Yoozel's and the WebMaster's job. ;)

Indeed I have impurity. And as I stated above, I don't believe that that is what one would do. But then again I believe the world may be a perfect world :P

You never said that it was arbitrary. Besides, it's probably a commonly understood concept that the plus sign is affirmative while the negative sign is negative.
