-=>RP<=- Official RCON Guidelines
---------------------------------
RCON, or Remote CONsole, is a privilege given to a select
few RPs who have proven themselves trustworthy and frequently
available to administer the servers. Among other things,
rcon can be used to change maps and gametypes, change settings,
or kick or ban troublemakers. Please keep in mind that if we
run our server properly, we will gain the respect of other
players and you should not need to use RCON as a disciplinary
tool very often.
Please note that admin privileges in our servers are very
tightly controlled, which means not all players will have rcon.
Some players may never receive it. The more you ask for rcon,
the less likely you are to ever get it.
Sometimes it's hard determining when it's okay to use rcon as
a means of dealing with troublemakers in the server. While
a good trouncing dealt by RP's finest is usually the best
punishment for troublemakers, occasionally we must rely on
other tools at our disposal. Use these guidelines to decide
when it's okay to use rcon for its less desirable purposes.
Note that you should almost always (see below) issue at least
one warning before kicking or banning a player from any RP
server! Remember, we do NOT boot people just for doing well!
In fact, we don't even boot people simply for playing cheaply.
We make fun of those people's pathetic tactics and poor skill,
and we do our best to humiliate them by crushing their team
over and over again until they realize they cannot win in our
server and leave of their own free will.
These are the guidelines I stick to when I am using rcon,
and I think it's very important that we have a consistent set
of guidelines that everyone with rcon access will follow.
Prior to receiving the rcon password, candidates for admin
privileges will be required to take at least 1 hour of rcon
training from one of the dedicated rcon trainers.

Section 1
---------
When is it appropriate to kick a player from the server?
1) Need to make room for an RP (try to wait for the start
of a new game since people might leave anyway at that point)
2) AFK for extended period of time
When is it appropriate to ban a player from the server?
1) Bad language, name-calling (see section 2)
2) Very poor sportsmanship (primarily meleeing/humping corpses)
3) Very bad, continued personal attacks on RPs
4) Very bad, continued insults directed toward RP as a clan
5) Continued instances of anything else takes all enjoyment
away from the game for most players in the server
Is it okay to kick/ban an RP?
1) Kick an RP who is AFK to make room for another RP who wants
to join the game but cannot because the server is full.
2) Kick an RP who is AFK to even up teams.
3) Kick or ban an RP for conduct unbecoming an RP...these
players' behavior problems MUST be subsequently brought to
the attention of their division leaders. Violators will be
permanently removed from the clan.
4) During rcon training, it is acceptable to kick or temporarily
ban an RP, provided that player has agreed to be kicked or
banned. Aside from this and the specific occasions outlined
above, RPs who have rcon access should NEVER kick or ban
another RP from ANY server (including servers run on their
own personal computers) purely for their own amusement.
Why shouldn't I announce that I have rcon or let it be known that I have administrative privileges in the server?
1) If players knows you have rcon, all they will do is harass you
until you eventually kick or ban them. They will test your limits
and waste your time.
2) If they're not testing your limits, they're whining and asking you to
ban another player for being too laggy or too "noobish" or too good.
If not that, they're just trying to get you to ban other players who
have done absolutely nothing wrong. Again, this is just a complete
waste of your time, and it ruins the harmony of the server.
3) While it is important for people to know that we do have some admins,
and it is important for one or two admins to be very well-known (for
inter-clan relation purposes), it is otherwise nobody else's business
to know who in RP has rcon.
4) In summary, you can save yourself a lot of headaches by taking action
covertly. You certainly don't have to lie, but if a player in our
server asks if you have rcon, you just can say, "Raptor is the admin,"
or something similar.

Section 2
---------
What does AFK mean?
- Away From Keyboard. Basically, any player who has not moved
or done anything at all (except perhaps get killed standing in
place) for several minutes is considered AFK.
When can I skip the warning and go straight to the discipline?
1) Repeated, intentional teamkilling with no apologies
2) Known troublemaker returns after a kick or autoban and causes more trouble
3) Players blatantly ignore warnings given to another player
4) Players play very cheaply, and later use bad language or
demonstrate very poor sportsmanship.
5) Obscene player names. Don't ever bother with a warning; if a
player they doesn't have the common decency to respect our
server and other players, he/she/it doesn't deserve any
consideration whatsoever on our part. Some names may be
open to interpretation, so use your best judgement. If
someone has a problem, they can take it up with us on the
website forums.
What constitutes name-calling?
- Anytime a player starts making derogatory statements about
other players and it is not in good fun, it can be considered
name-calling. If, for example, someone starts cussing out
another player or calls them personally insulting words, that
would be name-calling. If, however, a player is simply trash-
talking and saying things such as, "You stink! You can't even
hit me with a rocket?" or, "Quit that noob crap and try using
a real gun for once," that is in good fun and should not be
considered name-calling.
What is considered very poor sportsmanship?
1) Blocking portals by parking vehicles on top of them
2) Camping portals
3) Continuously camping the spawn points
4) Continuously camping choke points with several heavy weapons
5) Beating/meleeing/humping/raping corpses (dead bodies)
I apologize to Raptor if he didn't want this posted, but this is the best thing I can cite.
Oni Ryu, you were not banned for "unauthorized pwnage." You were banned for being obnoxious and mean-spirited with a grudge against a group of strangers. Get over it. Saying that one clan leader "bends over" for another isn't going to keep you unbanned from that clan's server. Your post is an outright lie. You played well in the server; what the hell does that have to do with you being banned? Having better players such as yourself is an improvement over the usual average players, so why would he ban you for that?
