I am suggesting that Bungie puts in a Bump Topic Button. This would cut down on the desperate people who are trying to keep their thread alive by making a very low quality post. ^_^ Obviously there should be limitations though, a player can bump any thread he/she wishes, but a maximum of 5 threads every 24 hours.

Please leave feedback/constructive criticism.

Thanks in advance -- Duffman.

I like to Rollick

Huh, so instead of a low-quality post they get an invisible post?

There shouldn't be bumping allowed at all. If your thread dies, then just let it die.

I don't see a difference between some sort of invisible bump like you're talking about and someone who just writes "bump."

The ideal concept of any forum is to let the topics of discussion sink or swim on their own merits. I think it's a bad idea to allow people to bump threads that the members are obviously done talking about.

Yeah, usually a thread dies do to a lack of interest in the topic, so invisibly bumping a topic probably wouldn't help it too much.

PS: Bump.

Trailer Park Boys ~ One of the best Canadian made comedies ever.

I think this wouldn't work too well. My idea would be to have it so you can't create a post right after your last one. This would help cut down on some bumping but of course not all.

Thank you. That's what I've been trying to tell them...

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

I hate bumping and (as I like to call them) bumpers.

Die. I hope this thread gets locked because of you.

2B || !2B - Why don't you look Inside the Machine?

It would be funny if they implemented that so when you click it you are logged out and then permabanned.

No signature found. Click here to change this.

It's a good idea, I like the limitations. I was afraid you would just say "Everyone can bump as much as they want!" but you put in limits. Good show. It would be nice. There have been countless times where I've made a thread that got no posts so I had to sneakily bump it, or create a second one. So this could work. Only change I'd make is I'd make it five bumps per thread, as opposed to five bumps total. Just for a little more leniency.

Why don't you just give me ONE SECOND!

Even limited it wouldn't work. I've said it before and I'll say it again, if your thread dies, let it die!

I'll be on my own side.

Put it this way: If a thread deserves bumping, it will stay on the first page. If it doesn't deserve bumping, then nobody cares about it, and it should die.

No thread deserves to be bumped. If it's important enough then it will get stickied.

Go and look at page 2 of optimatch as it is now. Look at the amount of locked threads killing discussion. Then promptly STFU, k?

Uhh... I'm going to assume that was a joke...

This would be a bad idea. It would completely ruin the forums and necrothreads would be everywhere. Once people have used up all their bumps, they will just go back to the traditional method. This wouldn't solve anything, it would just make the problem ten times worse.

Just like dead people, dead threads can't say no

D=

On a more serious note, this is a horrendous idea that would soley be used for spamming purposes. Threads aren't supposed to be bumped period. That's like asking if we can have a way to make 7 posts into 7 different threads at once. If a thread is worth sticking around, the general flow of conversation will take care of itself. If a thread drops off the face of the earth, it probably wasn't worth making

What does locked threads have to do with bumping?

I seriously think some people take these issues a bit to seriously. Bumping isn't allowed. Period.

Well Enough Alone...

~"The people who play Bungie games tend to sense that there's something behind the games that's attractive to them. Then they become fans of the games. And then they become rabid fans. And then they become employees of Bungie."(Life story) -Marty

I agree with bumping worthy posts back to the top. But there should be a seperate catagory for posts that have already been to the top. For example...you click on New Mombassa and then it would ask you if you want the new posts or posts that were bumped back up. A post should not be at the top more than once. If it's good, people will post in it and it wil go back up. If it's bad, it will go down into the depths of the icy river that is forrgotteness.
