Well, with computers that have a slow CPU, FRAPS is laggier when recording than GameCam, at least, so I've heard. I personally use a full version of FRAPS and that works for me. I have a real fast video card, but its hindered by my slow CPU, so in effect, I get low recording framerate. I've tried GameCam but didnt like it cause it had too much un-necessary stuff with it. I just needed something to record and stop recording at the push of a button.
Also, FRAPS raw vid files are generally MUCH bigger than raw GameCam files. Like, say a 2v2 HPT match on Chill out, one records with FRAPs, the other records with an older version of GameCam that doesnt have the logo on the recordings. The Fraps recorder gets like 4 gigs of raw footage, while the GameCam only has 400 to 500 megs of raw footage of that same match.
Sorry if this sounds harsh, but if you don't have a system to handle professional recording in the first place, then you shouldn't bother with it. I'm all good with Fraps because I have a good processor and I have a huge hard drive. And, as well as it should be, I empty my Fraps folder when it is needed. Also, you can reduce file size recording with Fraps if you choose to not record .avi, but it's usually preferred because .avi files record with the highest quality. Just my two cents.
