Ok a few days ago I when to my friends house and I can't remember what the game was but it was a first person shooter anyway the game let the host of a server play music over that server. I thought that it be really cool if Halo 2 Vista could do this. What do you think?

Didn't somebody post a poll about this a while back?

There is no music in multiplayer--I would rather keep it that way. Maybe I'll listen to some Rage Against the Machine or something like that with Windows Media Player running in the background, but I just play without music. It doesn't seem that necessary. Anyway, it just seems unlikely to happen.

Btw, a simple "Yes" or "No" would suffice for poll choices.

No, I don't want to go to a server that is playing music I don't like. I already have a hard enough time finding a decent server as is, this would just make things worse.

Not only would this totally lag a game out (decent quality is at least 128kbps, so take 128kbpsx15) but it'd be annoying.

I'd like an ingame music player though, or a plugin for WMP/Winamp.

it would be really really annoying if someone was playing crappy music and you had to listen to it...

Maybe you could have the ability to mute the music playing in the server, but still hear the server sounds. Alternatively, have a H2V Playlist and you can open it when you click ESC, and you can play music that only you can hear.

maybe have it like the 360, where the user can play their own, like when you press the x on the controller you can play songs..

Would that cause the game to lag? I mean you're only sending audio through your speakers and not through the whole game

However, listening to music puts you at a disadvantage. you can't hear a hog coming from behind, or that banshee squeal to warn you.

No, he's proposing that the server itself broadcast its music to all players who join, not a built-in play-your-own-music-like feature.

Actually matt, if you set music's volume lower than game volume, you'll still hear the game's sfx.

I'm there but, man this is really starting to sound like communism.
Long live the MAW.

is it really, really, that hard to just open windows media and play it from there? less lag and easier use-age.

I agree with about everyone on this. The game would lllllllaaaaaagggggg and players might hate the songs. It might be better if you could put your own favorite song on while playing.

Welcome to my signature, apparently I can't respond right now so please don't leave me a message, because I will not get back back to you after the beep.

It becomes annoying when you have to close the in-game window (not closed the game down) to change songs because siblings were on before you, but I'd rather not hear rap from someone so I'm in favor of the in game music list. As for music killing in game sound effects it doesn't I play my best games listening to music because it keeps the theater of play, and I can still hear that 'hog coming up behind me.

I know that, I was wondering if my suggestion would work, instead of all people, just have an in-game background music like 360 does, or not

I really have no idea on what to vote, yes or no, but all I know is that map makers may put their own music in their maps, like Yoyo did in Yoyorast Island, and for some of us, we can hook up our sound out put so it goes into a 2 way sound plug, like you may use so you and your friends can lisen to the same iPod with you own ear buds, but in the mic would be in place of the ear buds, that is how I record sound when I'm recording game play video, and you can set it up to your iPod is hooked up to the mic so you can talk, and play music when you play, it may be the easiest thing to do for playing Music in a server.

I don't see how it would work, the PC is not a console, sorry to be Captain Obvious there. Besides, we could just run Windows Media Player in the background while playing...
