The tracking won't be perfect, just like when you fully charge the plasma pistol. Its like that.

Well, I'm pretty sure they can only lock on to targets at a certain range. I don't think you could lock onto an opponent (say, a sniper) on the other side of the map! (that would suck) so, I don't think it will be to big a difference. I like it better any way when I predict where someone is going and kill them that way (:

Doesnt the rocket travel faster than the plasma bolt?? Also it seemed to track the hog pretty good, but that might have been enhanced for the demo!
Also if it tracks people that sucks, in a vehicle you might be able to jink around and lose the lock but a running spartan would have no chance!

The tracking works only on vehicles. And the tracking is a good deal better than that found on the Plasma Pistol. The reason they have the tracking on vehicles is to even out the new advantages the vehicles have.

I'm not sure if it works on people, maybe just on vehicles. Also, the rocket launcher isn't as powerful as in the first Halo, so it won't be too bad.

Tracking should be a cool new aspect. I concure with the dude who said they'll most likely track the same way as the plasma pistol... works for me Hoss.

In conclusion, if you could track someone all the way across a map... say Blood Gulch, it would be a little nuts... but not to worry, cause you'll be able to turn rockets off with a little customization....Right Bungie??

Would work for me if it was heat seaking...meaning it could only track Vehicles... or dudes with plasma swords! hahahah, now i'm gonna get you suckah!

I wouldnt worry about range, its only if the reticle goes red that the lock on happens! And people on the other side of the stage will not paint the reticle red it is that simple!

How can a rocket be not as powerful? Dude, if you get hit by a rocket you should die... it's that simple... if not then that's -blam!-.

AHHHH i see how it is... someone on this post wrote that rockets were slower this time around, but it looks as though they changed their post... clever bastard!

Hey just im my opinion i think the rockets should go faster. if you look at an actual rocket luancher the rockets go extremely fast, why would they slow it down if it is in the future. Plus if you luanch a rocket from below your target the person can easily dodge the rocket.

I think that it would be a cool aspect to the game. And I think that bungie knows what they are doing so leave them alone!!!

Chill man. I just say i think that would be cool. Bungie is the expert and they can do what they want to. Not trying to disrespect the allmighty Halo creators

Even if the rocket tracks infantry I don't really care. I can dodge a pathetic rocket with it's limited AI ! In fact, I hope it's more powerful so that it's harder to use near point blank without killing yourself.

fyi, draerdon, the rocket is a short-mid range weapon

Draerdon, think of the rocket's tracking like the Juggernaut's missile tracking.

I think a person who sprints could dodge the rocket... since that works in Halo 2. While the Halo 2 rocket may not start off at the same speed as the Halo rocket, the acceleration to higher speeds will definitely nullify the negative effects.

Sprinting wouldn't likely work, the rocket would outrun you in the end. You'd just have to strafe at just the right moment to get out of the way or, of course, find cover.

And that's only if it tracks infantry which I'm pretty sure it doesn't. Spartan's have detection countermeasures built into their suits against thermals and radar. About the only thing that works on them are motion detectors which wouldn't really work too well in a rocket.

Vehicles, don't have this special protection.

No, not sprinting away on a parallel course to the rocket's, but running at a right angle to the rocket's path- only right when it is close.

  • 07.16.2004 9:41 PM PDT

Rockets don't track people.

nicely done, removing that nut-bar's posts!!

Yeah, it wont track people and, to my knowledge (havent even played the game)

I think if i saw one tracking me, i could dodge it (once again dont know, but think it's possible) or if i dont care about the car, just get out, let the rocket hit, and if it does enough damage, watch that warthog blow to smitherenes eh?

Well, that's nice to know, Shishka. So only vehicles are in danger from rocket tracking... I guess people trying to ditch their vehicle when running away will become a lot more common in Halo 2.
