Can you request to be temp blacklist/blacklist on yourself for whatever reason, to avoid the senseless acts to getting it intentionally? I was talking to an anonymous source who got blacklisted intentionally for an anonymous reason, and thus the akward thought.

-S

The last time someone requested to be blacklisted via a pm to me (when I was a mod, obviously), I blacklisted them far longer than the time they asked for.

Requesting a blacklist in an attempt to prevent yourself from being an idiot is pretty damn immature. If you can't handle yourself on a forum, stay off the forum.

Don't bother asking how such inspired my next thought. But it would get tedious doing a servitude of blacklisting requests, perhaps a self-blacklist button could be an option, and set a duration.

Yeah, but you can just sign back in at anytime to have the same full access.

However, someone's self-control is limited, and going to such measures will make their short span of self-control not in vein.

I'm not really for requesting blacklists, however noone is arguing this side of it, leaving me no choice but to. "a point lacks value uncontested"

it's an intesting topic and one could say that we have the self control not sing into the forums and but one could allso argue that blacklisting yorself would take away the urge to do log and do somthing dumb

realy in the end i am not left with the question self black list or not but instead the question what must the people be like who would need such a thing do thay buy a new game and stay up for 4 days straght till thay beat it?

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

If you want to be blacklisted why don't you just go read the rules and break them?

-Quaere verum.

Got a report? Use the report tool or send a pm.
Chairleg Productions presents: 'Console Wars' and 'Games as Art?' (also on Halo Waypoint).

There are many other ways to create the same effects as a blacklist. Say someone had an exam they needed to revise for but they were ridiculously addicted to the forums here, they would be able to use several other methods of constraint such as internet disconnection, keeping their computer off, asking parents for help etc.

Unless you can provide possible reasons, it is difficult to argue your point of view. The way i see it so far, it's not in the interest of the web team to take time implementing a self blacklist feature.

Maybe the kid has multiple personalities and he knows that the next personality in the queue is a mean SOB that might go on a flaming spree the likes of which we've never seen.

Everything will be gone long before me. When the first living thing was born, I was here, waiting. When the last living thing dies, my job is finished. I'll put the chairs on the tables, turn out the lights and lock the universe behind me when I leave.

So can mods blacklist themselves? I know they can blacklist other mods.

Strange evolution how people have come to believe
That we are it's greatest achievement
We're barely, we're just a collection of cells
Overrating themselves

There is something about this thread that makes my fingers want to hurl random insults at the OP, but given the amount of "What happened to the community" threads The Septagon has been plagued with lately, I have to applaud the OPs originality.

On topic: If you dont have the willpower or self-control to remove yourself from the forums, chances are you dont have the willpower to stop yourself from creating an alternate account to avoid your self-imposed blacklist.

It's called a cancel button. Use it instead of the submit button.

Even if there was a temporary blacklist button you could employ on yourself, how would that solve anything? If you are concerned with what you might do, then how would temporarily blacklisting yourself be a solution. Do you have such insight that you would know it would take you 3.5 weeks to be more mature and in turn be safe having access to bungie.net again?
The only way to truly accomplish one's goal of protecting bungie.net from themselves would be a permaban button. This is the only way to guarantee protection from one's self.

Or, you could just cut off your fingers.

Here's how to blacklist yourself (that doesn't involve a ninja or breaking any rules).

* Find a friend or relative that you can trust.
* Have them come up with a new passphrase/password for your Windows Live ID (MS Passport).
* Don't give them your username, but have them type their "new" password into the "change password" dialog on the Account Maintenance page for your WLID.
* Have them not tell you the new password until a certain period of time has elapsed, no matter how much you plead.
* Sign off of Bungie.Net.
* Enroll in classes to develop and build your own willpower so you don't have to repeat the above steps.

If you have to request yourself to get blacklisted to get away from the forum you need help. Go call some guys in white suits or at least see a doctor...
