The topic pretty much asks the question -- if you use a mod that only changes the way the weapon's colors and designs look for you and you only, and not the shape, and dont give you any sort of increased aim, lock-on, etc, against the rules for Halo PC?

It's up to the admin on the server you are playing on.

Unless you are in a KW, it doesn't really matter what skins you are using, as I have never come across a dedi admin that doesn't allow skins...

It really doesn't matter... like at all. Whatsoever.

If you don't bother telling them in the first place, you shouldn't have to worry. However, during some formal matches or KlanWars, it is against the rules to use any mods or skins during matches, whether or not they give you an advantage.

ya, if I was the Admin of the server, and you have some pic of a Naked girl on a skin, or any swaring of any kind on the skin, I may kick you, or ban you for it, but if it just makes the skins look better or shinyer, then I may let you play, I mean, come on, I like seeing what people can do with Skins, but as long has the skins are PG-14, not R or X, I think there are more people under the age of 18 playing Halo, people older then the age of 18, I've only ran into a very few old people, but I've ran into kids in grade school online.

Well, I knew that =P. I should of re-phrased the question -- do most admins think it's acceptable.

That's what I was looking for, thanks.

It's only going to affect your side of the cable modem, so it doesn't matter.

>_>

It works perfectly fine for me, I dont connect to anything, I just draw stuff up and replace my bitmap with it. No difference from normal skins on campaign from different skins on campaign or normal skins on MP or different skins on MP for me.

It doesn't matter, moddign is completely allowed on Halo PC. It is because in Halo PC skin mods only affect you and no one else.
But weapon mods do affect others if you are the host

Nah, that would be somewhat redundant with your Xfire skin list, but go ahead if you wish.

I can see it being unfair if, say, your skin changed all of your enemies into high-visibilty pink, so you had an easier time spotting them.

Other than that I don't see any problem with skinning.

In KlanWars, in formal matches, using skins or mods of any sort is against the rules.

In PC if your playing with skins ONLY you can see them.
And same with the mods. If you join a server and you have weapon mods or super jump and -blam!- they wont do anything, it plays off the hosts map not like halo 2. Even if you add auto aim it will not work, only aim-bots work.

So I would say no server has rules about skins and if they did how would they find out?

Increasing the accuracy of the assault rifle?

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Increasing the accuracy of the assault rifle?
Huh? That would be bad, but that's not what we're talking about. Using mods to change the appearance of weapons doesn't impact the game for anyone else. Why should it be a problem?

Even if you increased the accuracy of the AR, it wouldn't affect anyone else but you. if you were to change it so it only hits one spot with pin point accuracy on your end, the shots wouldn't count any more than if you kept them alone. The game is server-side.
