Subject: Editing Polls

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

I have posted many polls before and there is this one little thing about thim that are really annoying.

I am making a poll. I finish the polls and the question and submit it. I look at my work and I figure out that I forgot an answer. But then I remember, I can't edit it! So I go and wimper in a corner as many members make fun of me and stuff like that. Seriously, you can really ruin a poll by simply forgeting to type an option.

I have ruined countless amounts of polls and I always get so annoyed. Is there anyway to where you can edit a poll? This could really help out alot!

I think there may be 2 reasons that poll editing is absent.
1: It simply isn't possible on B.net (which isn't likely)
2: To prevent people putting options like "Halo Is Cool" and changing it to "I Hate Bungie" (or worse) after se7en thousand people vote for it.

This could help, but lots of people would change the options after others have voted and the results will be nowhere near accurate.

Someone beat me to it. But, yes, I would have to say this feature is absent because of choice changing after people vote rendering the poll inaccurate and useless.

Although, this could be solved by re-setting the votes back to zero. So, basically, I would agree to have this feature for polls in their infancy. Maybe a 10 minute timer before you could no longer edit the choices.

Take that home, chew on it, it's delicious.

Why can't you just make your poll correct the first time?

If you poll started receiving votes from people, you shouldn't be able to edit it because that would ruin the poll. You don't see polls out there in the real world constantly changing or your being biased against the people who already voted.

Well, I know, but you are bound to mess up once. Like you haven't ever wanted to make a change in a poll or want to fix a typo you made?

But then, isn't it easy to manufacture results for polls anyways? Making multiple accounts that vote for the same thing, telling your friends to vote, and all those different ways of adding votes. Polls are most likely not accurate now. Does that mean we shouldn't be able to fix typos or add choices we forgot to add, or rephrase our question so that it makes more sense?

An idea has struck me! double check!

Anyhow, that'd be the best thing to do. Since we can't edit polls, and an update probably isn't coming for a while, double check!

Changing the ballot after the votes come in?

Come on, I was born in Florida, but allowing that would make the "butterfly ballot" look like a good idea.

Perhaps maybe an option to add additional choices, then?

That still ruins a poll's accountability.

For example: In an election, an electorate voted for party A because he found that the party represents him the most. Then later during the election, an additional party was added, which represented the electorate even more.

How is that fair to the poll options or the voter itself? It's not, and now the poll doesn't accurately represent the votes that were casted.

There is one thing that should be fixed about the poll system. Rather than using internet cookies to keep track of if you have voted, your user name should be logged, so that it will not allow anybody to vote multiple times using one account.

Another thing that could be useful with the poll:
While creating the thread, there should be an option whether to allow multiple choices to be selected, or just one selection.

Having each poll keep track of the users who voted would place an enormous amount of strain on B.net's already-buggy servers.

An edit option for polls might work, if Bungie made it to where editing the poll restarts the voting process. Then, everyone would have to revote.

Because of a few trouble makers all of us have to live with limitations. Bungie is right to limit editing.

I didn't read all the replies... but I just want to be able to close a poll and leave the thread open.
