Here's a pic. I just spent 10 minutes on it, so don't expect much when looking at it. >_<

Info about this recommendation: The button would ONLY show up if the user was online. If the user was offline the button would simply not be there.

If a user hit the IM button a popup would open on that person's side. It would act like MSN or any other IM service, with a text box, emoticons, block/unblock buttons, add user etc.

A popup would show up on the other user's end only if a message was sent to that person. If a message is sent to you a noise would sound, to alert you that a message was sent to you.

Please rate this idea, hope y'all like it. ^_^

EDIT: I am suggesting this idea because of the fact that if you are having a conversation with someone through PMs, (Not just one or two messages but in the double digit+,) this would a) drasticly cut down on your PM inbox, and b) save a LOT of time.

anyone who's played more than you has no life

anyone who's played less than you is a noob

rather than having such a system in place, why not have an "online now" symbol next to someone's name, and then you could just add them to AIM / MSN... some people might not want to be contacted, you know.

Besides, in such a large gaming community you'd get companies trying to spam sell things - like WoW. If you stand in Ironforge without say / yell disabled, you'll be subject to ridiculous amounts of spam.

The beauty of the "Block" button. Besides, they could try to sell you stuff through PMs already.

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

Well generally the Ninjas would like to have this feature be at least able to be toggled. I for one use MSN to have people IM me. I am generally available a good bit of the time. So in the end a feature like this would not benifit me all that much.

As for really implementing it I don't think that Achronos would because of all the free IM and IRC clients out there. Also I am not sure if it will load down the servers with too much going on at peak times.

Just my early morning opinion. Now where is my bagel...........

News? Podcasts? Machinima? Active forums? Competitions? Jaffa Cakes!? OMG!
Thee Warriors!

Best. Mod. Ever.

I'm still for the idea of a message pool that all the moderators can see. Like their Gmail account, but on Bungie.net.

There's two serious problems with this: nobody uses the same client and bungie.net could not handle having its own gtalk-like service.

I, for instance, use gaim. i don't necessarily like it, but it works for me the best. It doesn't use the most updated version of MSN, AIM, or anything. I also know a ton of people on bnet who use similar clients (miranda, trillian, etc.) and it would be an incredible burden on them to give those up for multiple clients. It would also put an additional strain on bnet, which isn't necessary.

As for something like what google has (where you don't need to download gtalk to use it, so long as you have google open in a browser and are registered. To have that would take an incredibly durable service, one that basically only google does well. Expecting bnet to have that is like expecting elephants to sneeze so hard that their trunks fell off. Ain't gonna happen.

Most mods nowadays use msn, so it really isn't that difficult to track them down. Some are also on irc. All of them are also on google talk.

Or mayhaps at the bottom of the user's post. But yes, I suppose that'd be ok.

As Windows Live becomes more integrated and widespread, I suspect that such functionality might be more likely and easier to find.

Since a Windows Live ID (aka: MS Passport) is now the core object related to a gamercard, and is also used by both Windows Live Messenger (aka MSN Messenger) and XBL, it's possible that such functionality is in the works.

Personally, I suspect that we would see a consolidation of XBL and WLM prior to websites being able to easily offer such linkage. Having a single ID and account to reference would be an important step. Currently, such systems tend to rely on the member/user entering in their IM account information. By having it linked to their WLID, it would simplify configuration and would also cut down on certain kinds of abuse.

Personally, I would look forward to seeing WLM and the XBL system adopt each others strong points and merge together. Both have friends lists, text messaging, voice messaging, and video messaging. To move them into a single entity would further blur the line between being online at my console or my PC.

It would be great to know that I could visit the XBL Marketplace on my PC and/or get a text/voice/video message on my 360 (from a friend using a PC) without any loss of functionality or ability.
