Ok, sorry if the thread title makes me look like a retard. xP

Anyways, I was window shopping in Best Buy, and ran across the Hardrives/Routers section. I knew I only had 1.5 Gig left in my old 40 Gig HD...so I knew I had to buy a new, fresh, many-gigs hardrive, very soon. Well, I saw a 320 Gig Western D. one for 99.99. I am already craving it. So the question is: is it a good deal? And/Or, is it a good hardrive? If I get good confirmations, I should start saving up a hundred dollars, so I can enjoy downloading and recording, without a pinch of slow-downs or fear of losing space. ;D

Will you be using it for extra storage, or for your operating system drive?

Get it.

I might get 500 gigabytes of hard drive space this year once I upgrade. I'll never need to worry about deleting clips to free up space again...

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

Do NOT get it at Best Buy. Price match it at Circuit City, or better yet, get it off New Egg.

Here you will need this to help you get your foot out of the back of your throat, looks llike its in there pretty deep. And what is that on your face? Egg?! *hands Kim a washcloth*

Thats complicated?!!? All you do is screw it in and attach two cables and switch the jumper to the slave position and then boot the computer. All in all it takes maybe 1 minute to do everything with most of the time spent screwing in the screws.

You mean replace the hardrive for a new one? Or add another hard drive? Well either way it's not too hard if you know what you're doing. It's time consuming.
Good luck if you got that lol. If you mess up, you might mess the whole system up.

It's not hard to install new HD's. My father bough two, one external, and internal, and I put them in. For the internal one, I even had to drill holes into one of the frames so it can be even with the other HD.

Yes, lpjuunin, the above could be a problem. I'm assuming that if your PC is old it will have an IDE setup, and that Seagate drive may very well be a SATA one (The connections are different- SATA is much faster).

Yeah that, and buying a IDE is a waste of money.

If you can get a hard drive for less than $1 per GB, it's a good deal.

In your case, it's a really good deal.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Geez, yes! That's a great deal. I've had nothing but success with Seagate, and my current HDD is a Seagate 300Gb SATA drive.

I got 2 of those from the FutureShop (BestBuy owns FutureShop, so same deal really), and those harddrives are solid for me. I use one in my main tower for Vista and all my files, and the other in my room's comp for media and such. They worked fine for me. I would not suggest tossing the 40GB, but to strap on the 320GB SATA HDD as another HDD, and use the 40GB one for Windows/Linux/etc, and the 320GB HDD for files. That way your OS won't tie up space on it. =D

The Seagate 320GB SATA HDD also has a 16MB Cache on it, so it loads stuff quite nicely. ;)

IDE is still good for external drives since USB 2.0 will limit the speed anyways.
