Well, I'm getting a video card from my friend (cheaper than store price) and I'm goign to buy it soon. I Have a PCI slot and he says that PCIs are generally slower. Is this true?

If you mean PCI and not PCI-E then yes they are very slow, don't waste your money.

I wouldn't bother with a PCI video card. Get a new PC or build your own.

No, he cheats and he's totally willing to admit that on Bungie's own forum. :)

I recommend PCI-Express over anything else--the era of the AGP bus is over.

well going by the situation hes in, and not making rediculous* comments about getting a whole new machine because i am sure he does not feel like spending the money on that right not, if the card is better then what you have by a decent amount then go for it

First off, tell us what card he's selling you, exactly. You'll regret it if it's a cruddy, old version of Radeon or something.

PCI is dead now, get a PCI-E x16 motherboard or don't bother.
Yurp. I'm upgrading to a new motherboard this year with PCI-E.

Will all of you who keeps saying don't get PCI, don't get PCI, shut the hell up? I remember when I was buying my graphics card, everyone annoyed the living crap out of me saying by a new mobo, buy a new mobo. Just sthu for once, and put yourselves in our shoes. If we buy a new mobo, you have to spend money on that, a new PSU, fan, compatible RAM, etc. etc. And read carefully, DKThnikman explains he's buying the card cheaper from his friend, which obviously means, he BARELY has enough for that card, and nothing else fancy. And besides a PCI graphics card beats integrated anydays, so it's still worth it.

So everyone who dares tell DJThnikman to not buy the card, because it's a PCI, SHUT THE -BLAM!- UP. You guys got me pissed off when I was being told to not buy a PCI/AGP slot card, and now I'm -blam!-ing fed up with this -blam!-. Just shut the hell up if you have nothing suggestive/supportive to say.

And to DJThnikman, have you checked inside your computer yet? I myself thought I only had PCI slots, but when I checked, I miraculously found an AGP slot. Check first.

Someone has anger issues.

We're suggesting that he upgrades his motherboard because most (if not all) of the cards for PCI slots suck. Period.

If you put it like that, obviously all of ya'll got egotistic problems, and enjoys crashing PCI user's parties.

Ok, we all get it, PCI sucks. But it's a helluva lot better than integrated cards. It's going to be a good upgrade for him. So FFS, shut up about it. Let the man buy what he wants dammit.

We have egotistic problems because we're recommending him something that doesn't suck, and in the end he'll have a better gaming experience?

I think he'll be very well content with what he gets, because I myself is very content with the graphics card I have. And face it, ya'll know he's not going to be able to buy a new mobo, and every other compatible stuff for it (new PSU, RAM type, etc.), let alone a new PC. So let the guy buy it, and shut up with the "0mg, y00 n00b, just go buy a 3ffin5 new m0bo kthnxbai". Put yourselves in our shoes for once.

Sorry, I wasn't aware that he's you.

So you don't think it's possible to be content even with the little things? You must be the kind of person who is never satisified, and always wanting the new stuff. Don't -blam!-ing argue with me you spoiled jock, and leave DJThnikman with his own decision. He's a human being too, with a mind just as clear as yours. Well I wouldn't consider yours.

It's hilarious to see you getting so worked up because we were recommending him a god damn upgrade. So, since I want to help him have a better computer, I'm a spoiled jock who wants all the latest stuff?

Dude. Wake. Up. He obviously can't get or buy a new computer, let alone upgrading furthur.

And I call you a spoiled jock, because obviously, looking at all your recent posts here, you don't understand the meaning of being content with what you have. He doesn't need something as crazy as an 8800gtx or something. Neither do we, yet we choose to constantly upgrade, upgrade, upgrade, 'till we get a freakin' overkill. 3 cookies are enough for a snack, you don't need 5 packs.

Did I ever tell him to get something extremely high-end like an 8800 GTX? No. I suggested that he upgraded his motherboard to a PCI-E x16 slot, which aren't even that expensive. Unless his motherboard is really old, he probably won't have to get a new processor or RAM, either.

Well, don't go saying "w.e" when you finally realize he can't do everything as your wish intends to be. Suggesting is telling/explaining to someone about different options he can take, which is meant to be helpful. Suggesting doesn't mean listing something extreme.

A PCI-E x16 motherboard is "extreme"?

Face it, he's already paying a good bundle on an old, probably-used graphics card. Does he HAVE to upgrade his mobos, just so he avoids PCI slots? I say he's getting a good deal (well until he tells me/us what the graphics card is), no need to spoil it and/or his mood by having 300 of you saying "0mg, g3t a new m0b0, kthnxbai".

And he can always upgrade later on. Upgrading doesn't need to happen in a finger-snap you know. Geezus.

Whatever man, there's no point in arguing about computer upgrades with a guy who's proud of his 6200.

Dude, that's because I know when to be satisfied, little, big, or whatever. I'm not some spoiled jock who needs constant overkills. Sure, why not, you may know more about upgrades than me, but at least I know when to be content and satisfied with the little things I have.
