Why would I buy me a newer computer then what I got? I got my new computer right from dell, November. a Dimension E520, with free Vista up-grade, Master Kim, I don't need to buy a new computer, because I already have one.

Oh, come on, that means nothing.

Could it even handle Halo 2, or other games decently? I'm talking about in all-around processing power, because if you've got two gigabytes of RAM and an Intel Duo Core 2 Proc overclocked to five gigahertz and an integrated chipset, it's not going to run so well on something like Crysis.

"Why would I buy me a new computer than what I already own" Guess what? PC technology grows fast, and by the time Windows Vista has all its kinks worked out, and the DX10 games start coming in, there will be newer, better hardware rendering your PC obsolete.

That is why you'd want to buy a newer computer than what you already have. Wait, let me rephrase that: That is why you'd want to wait to upgrade until better hardware is released.

Maybe you don't want a super computer that can handle games at maximum efficiency, but some of us do.

Dude. You don't always need an overkill. Wasting money like a freakin' fool won't get you anywhere in life.

It's not overkill. Overkill is spending $6,000 on a built PC when you can make a better one for half that money.

Make that 1/4 of that price. I don't know of anyone who has built a rig and has spent more than $1,500 to be able to run Oblivion at max settings/resolution with 90+ FPS.

QFT.

My ideal situation would be to have a thin-and-light laptop for work and light gaming, and a self-built tower for the heavy-duty next-gens.
