Did no one happen to notice the squad of invincible marines in the next room? they only pop out and beat the -blam!- outta MC if you hit someone on the bridge!

But I do wonder why bungie decided to make it that way...

Maybe they know us (the gaming community) all to well, eh?

I once melee'd every one of those marines into that little room on the bottom of the bridge.

I couldn't do anything else but revert to last checkpoint because the doors were locked..

Whereas you do know all about protocol. On spaceships. In a video game.

Kudos.

Yes, as a matter of a fact, I do. Do we have a problem with that? If so, I seriously think you should consider the world outside my life.

It's against protocol. Something you evidently know nothing about. They don't allow you to even light a match on the bridge, let alone keep a fully-loaded firearm with you.

I'll admit I don't know much about Cole protocol but if you can't even light a match how is the Captain smoking his pipe?

I bet the reason he can't fight well is because what's in his pipe.

He didn't realise that, unlike in Halo 2, You can die in this game, wether you are essential or not.

You can kill th captain. When you get your bulits go back to the brige. shoot him in da face. He dies. Cortan call for mariens. They can't be killed so you get F'ed in the A.

Personally I think he's a big idiot. He does his best to get captured or killed all through the game.

What's your opinion of the Captain?

the first tiem I played, I took the pistol, loaded it, shot the captain and said "Yeah, not loaded my ass"

'We' don't have a problem with what you know.

'We' have a problem with you being a supercilious twit about it.

I didn't see it lit.

It doesn't appear to be lit but it is. Most smoking methods in the future use the new smoke containment technology to prevent unwanted secondhand smoke. New tobacco processing methods eliminate all exhaled smoke also. It is all absorbed into the lung. That's right, lung as in singular. Smokers in the future only smoke with one lung. That way they always have one good one. Jeesh! I'm surprised you didn't know that.

I still say if the Captain was half the hero and genius that we've been led to believe, the pistol would be loaded.

I believe you're referring to the M909 Bubble Head Exhalent Containment System. (M909 BHECS for shorter.)

It was developed by civilian scientists in conjunction with the top techs at Section 3 of ONI, hence the military designation.

Maybe he never uses the pistol? He's definitely not an idiot. He never kept it loaded, big deal.

Yes I think it is a big deal. He's the Captain of a combat ship in time of war and there're big signs all over the floor leading the covenant directly to the bridge. He could easily find himself between a team of elites and Cortana and would have nothing to fight with but an empty pistol and an "unlit" pipe. At the very least I'd say that's bad judgement.

What are you talking about? He would have to be an idiot not to keep it loaded in a WAR! Fool. Hence, he must have lost the ammo in a poker game. ^-^ Well, either that or he was a covanent bastard in disguise... trust no one... *shifty eyes*

Who says the Covies can read English and can understand our pictograms?

They might mistake a trash compacter for the bridge, and no amount of Oxygen Panels or big sticks will be able to save them.

...because he knows if he did keep it loaded, he wouldn't be able to resist 3SK-ing all the players whining about how the pistol got nerfed.

  • 02.15.2007 4:27 PM PDT

He's a captain, not a soldier. He probably never has to use it.

  • 02.15.2007 7:10 PM PDT

He's a sailor not a marine. He's there to fly the ship.

You've got to think crazy, of course, because you only get innovation by refining insanity. - Jason Jones

What i would like to know, is how can you pick up ammo in a doorway that has no dead marine laying there? Its like magic ammo or something. But either way i dont see why he would keep it unloaded.
