Great, I waited this long for it to download and it lags.

On minimum settings.

You sure it's on the lowest?

If your aspect ratio is set to 4:3, then you can choose the lower resolutions. If it's not at 4:3, set it to that, and choose whatever resolution works best....and then lower all of the textures to the lowest possible settings.

I'm able to play it on max.....it's beautiful...

I haven't tried lowering the resolution. Maybe I'll try that.

Lowering the resolution helps a ton.

END OF LINE

I gotta say, these guys did an excellent job of bringing the original half life to the source engine. If It wasn't free, I would've purchased it.

You will be able to buy it though....I think....

Black Mesa is one of the 10 games coming to Steam from Greenlight.

I'm assuming the reason why you would have to pay for that version of it is because it's stand a lone....but really.....so is the mod.

DOesn't make much sense to me....but whatever.

Yeah, I finally found a safe non-torrent DL and it's going to take two more hours >_>

I'm killing time by listening to Black Mesa's AMAZING soundtrack.

Do you have a 7-zip file manager? Also, from which link are you DLing from? Because one of the official mirrors gave me a similar error when attempting to open it.

GameFront. And yeah, but 7-zip isn't helping much.

Yeah, I think that was the one. It only took like 8mins to download, right? That's because the damn files don't work : /

I'm using Atomic Gamer.

Some people can't use torrent. I can't use torrent at my university because the U network bans all torrents and torrent software, because they might be sued for pirated content. Probably the same case with this dude.

I am downloading the torrent, but I think it'd be best to figure out what's wrong with the 3.7 gig Blackmesa.7z file rather than downloading a new one which can probably screw up just as well.

I'll try that, then. It took me six hours because my internets hates me.

Oh, I thought you were referring to another problem people are commonly having. Let me get his straight: you have the three files, and you run the setup.exe (without previously unzipping the 3-4 gig file), and then what goes wrong?

Yeah, same here. If you CAN use a torrent though, I'd recommend it (if you know how to torrent). It would probably go faster.

Problem with the gamefront one is that I don't think it gives you the setup.exe, or it's compressed into the unopenable 7zip files.

-scratch this, it actually gives you an installer dl link, but the link doesn't work

It says:
"Processing archive: blackmesa.7z"
"Error, cannot open file as archive"
"Failed to extract files. 7-zip returned error code 2"

And to Pheonix Phire, I dunno how to use a torrent.

Ya, then I'd just recommend either looking it up on youtube or just killing time by playing another game.

Some of the mirrors didn't give me the blackmesa.7z file. Go with the torrrent, it worked for me. If you don't know how, download a torrenting program (I use mutorrent), go to the mediafire torrent linked to you from the Black Mesa site, click the link of mediafire, click ''open with'' and choose your torrenting application.
